I just remembered in 2009 when my hometown Dresden, where superlatives are normal course of life, reached a new record. 🙁
We are the first location worldwide that forfeit the title "Unesco world heritage". Reason is the new building of a bridge crossing the river Elbe. During planning of it the city council decided for a concept that doesn't fit in the environment Elbe-valley. This they did against protest from citizenship. Also in my eyes the bridge looks like an railway-bridge, very functional and steely and cold. The main reason of the lost of the title is the council lied to the Unesco commission about location and design. Now, after amendments (dimensions of bridge), the commission is not willing to stop its decision. Some days ago the construction was mounted basically and connect the watersides.
Shame shame shame.
